Art Renaissance
Weekend

Both for the long-time explorer and the first time visitor, Brown County’s Art Renaissance Weekend September 13th through the 15th provides a perfect springboard into the county’s vibrant and renowned art history.

This year’s art renaissance continues the tradition of celebrating the artists of the past and the art colony of today by offering a wide range of activities to artists and art lovers.

Special exhibitions, sales of early and contemporary art, art demonstrations and contests and chamber music will mark this year’s celebration.

On Friday, September 13th at 7 p.m., the Peaceful Valley Chamber Players will present a concert by world-class musicians at the Brown County Art Guild. A wine and cheese reception will follow.

The Art Guild will premier an exhibition in the Marie Goth Memorial Room entitled, “In the Company of Women: Portraits by Marie Goth.” This is the first time any of these portraits of women have been on display.

The Brown County Art Gallery presents the annual exhibit, “Artist Colony Today”, on display September 13th through the 15th, spotlighting the extraordinary talent that continues in Brown County today.

On Saturday, September 14th, from 6 to 9 p.m., artist Scott Sullivan will demonstrate his plein air technique at the Artist Colony Inn.

The Great Outdoor Art Contest will be hosted by the T.C. Steele State Historic Site on Sunday, September 15th. The contest is open to artists of all ages and at all levels from beginner to professional. The opportunity to paint “plein air”—as Steele himself often did—has made this one of the weekend’s most popular events.

In addition to these scheduled events, the paintings of early and contemporary artists will be on exhibit and available for sale in and around the county all weekend.
