Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition

June 9-23, 2007

Nearly 200 of the state’s top professional and amateur artists have entered this year’s Indiana Heritage Arts Annual Exhibition and Sale. That amounts to 500 paintings for this year’s judge to jury into the show which takes place June 9-23 at the Brown County Art Gallery in Nashville. Admission is free and all the paintings are for sale.

The exhibition opens on Friday, June 8th with an invitation only reception during which nearly $20,000 in prize money will be handed out. All paintings are for sale and last year, nearly $70,000 worth of paintings sold on the first weekend. Some of the proceeds benefit Indiana Heritage Arts.

All the artists must either be from Indiana or have a tie to the Hoosier state to enter. Each artist is allowed to put three pieces into the competition. This year’s judge is artist Peter Fiore of New York City. He will narrow the show down to approximately 130 paintings and then select the prize winners. The annual IHA show has grown into one of the largest art competitions in the country.

The Brown County Art Gallery is located at Main Street and Artist Drive just east of the courthouse. Hours are 10 to 5 daily and noon to five on Sundays.
