Studio & Garden Tour
The Brown County Studio and Garden Tour is scheduled for Sat., June 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This marks the fourth annual free self-guided tour of some of the best working artists and craftsmen studios in Brown County, Indiana.
For one special weekend in June a select group of Brown County artists and craftsmen will open their studios and gardens to the touring public. Throughout the tour weekend each artist will be demonstrating their particular art or craft including: watercolor and oil painting, weaving, porcelain and stoneware pottery, basket weaving, woodworking, and several types of stained glass work.
Particiapting artists and craftsmen on this years tour include: Shelley Cannon Frederick, Jane Graber, Chris Gustin, Dick Hartung, Joe and Peggy Henderson, Andrew Huddleston, Mary Jo Limp, Amanda Wallace Mathis, Cheri Platter, Anne Ryan Miller, Greg Schatz, Larry Spears, Sandy Taylor and Douglas Teeples.
As you travel the scenic back roads of Brown County, moving from studio to studio, you begin to understand why so many creative souls migrate to this “Art Colony of the Midwest.”
As well as a fine sampling of their work, many of the artists have their own gardens including: sculpture, perennial, rose, herb, vegetable and water gardens. The public is also invited to explore these outdoor works of art.
The Brown County Studio and Garden Tour headquarters is the T.C. Steele State Historic Site located just off St. Rd. 46 near Belmont, Indiana, highlighting the museum, historic home and gardens of Brown County’s first great painter T.C. Steele (1847-1926). Additional brochure and map pickup sites are the Brown County Inn, located at the corner of St. Rd. 46 and St. Rd. 135 in Nashville, Indiana, and the Story Inn, located on Indiana State Road 135 South, in southern Brown County. Maps are available prior to the event and during the tour weekend at the Brown County Visitors and Convention Bureau and The Brown County Chamber of Commerce, both located in downtown Nashville, Indiana, and ot the website <www.browncountystudiotour.com>.
Prominent signage will assist in directing you to each site during the Tour weekend.
