Artist-of-the-Month: Chris Gustin

Continuing to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Brown County Craft Gallery will feature Chris Gustin as March Artist-of-the-Month.

Chris, a Brown County resident, is well known for her unique talent of weaving funky yet functional rugs from recycled industry material. Other creations, some woven from her own handspun wool, include shawls, hats, scarves, pillows, placemats, and mug rugs.

Chris began weaving as a child growing up in Michigan and continued her craft with classes at Central Michigan University. From New York City, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Nebraska to the heartland of the Midwest, weaving plays an integral part of Chris’s life wherever she resides. Currently, Chris designs, weaves, and teaches at Homestead Weaving, located ten miles from Nashville. Her studio is on the annual summer Brown County Studio and Garden Tour as well.

The Brown County Craft Gallery is a co-operative of about twenty artists from Brown County and the surrounding communities. Established in 1978 by local artisans and craftspeople, the gallery continues to preserve the arts and crafts of the area. Visit the gallery for the finest in pottery, woodworking, baskets, fiber arts, gourd and folk art, weaving, metalwork, jewelry, leatherwork, blown and stained glass, original watercolors, handmade cards and soap, and other handicrafts.
